Early this afternoon, The Board of Directors of the Toledo Tea Party conducted an emergency meeting to discuss the ramifications of the upcoming Senate vote on the Iranian Nuclear deal.
Prior to the Senate taking up ratification of any treaty, it's their responsibility to perform due diligence as to how the treaty will effect the United States of America.
A major concern is the ability to verify the conditions of the agreement. Iran has a long history of not living up to the agreements they enter into. Combine this with a "Death to America" rhetoric by their leaders, Its difficult to understand how anyone in their right mind would give Iran $160 billion dollars, a clear path to nuclear weapons, and ballistic missile technology to deliver those weapons to any point in the middle east or even any city in the United States,
Considering the safety and security of our nation, This treaty / agreement/ deal is not in the best interest of the United States. The board unanimously voted upon a resolution to ask Ohio's two Senators to not approve this Iranian Nuclear deal.
Below is the text of the Resolution.
Resolution #1503, September 10, 2015: A resolution requiring Ohio's United States Senators to reject the Iran Nuclear Deal.
WHEREAS Iranian President Rouhana states that Iran will not comply with provisions of the agreement which limits missile delivery systems.
WHEREAS Iranian Defense Minister Dehqan and Supreme Leader Khamenei state that Iran will not comply with provisions which allow the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to inspect any nuclear/military sites.
WHEREAS the agreed verification process is flawed in that it disallows IAEA personal and first hand verification of nuclear and/or military sites. The agreed process does not permit inspectors the physical inspection of test sites, but rather permits Iran provide the IAEA inspectors with photographs, videos, and environmental samples of requested sites.
WHEREAS Iran is entrenched in its history of entering into agreements and then failing to honor said agreements expressly in regards to its nuclear capabilities. First hand verification of any and all sites is paramount to any agreement with Iran.
WHEREAS Secretary of State Kerry entered into undisclosed agreements with Iran as a means to reach this accord. The details of undisclosed agreements have not been presented to the United States Senate which prevents them from exercising their Constitutional duties.
WHEREAS Iran will receive $160 billion dollars as part of this agreement. Iran will continue to fund surrogate terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah et al throughout the Middle East.
THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Toledo Tea Party urges United States Senators the Honorable Sherrod Brown and the Honorable Rob Portman to vote NO on this agreement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, if the United States Senate undertakes this agreement in the form of a Treaty under Article II, Section 2, Clause 2, the Toledo Tea Party requests Senator Sherrod Brown and Senator Rob Portman vote NO on the ratification of this treaty.
